Day 624
1 documented win
Diesel tax deferred through December
The win
Executive Order 14435 defers diesel excise-tax payments incurred from October 5 through December 31, 2026, for taxpayers the Treasury finds were hit by the qualifying event. Deferred amounts carry no penalty or interest. The IRS will not penalize the sale or highway use of dyed off-road diesel in that same window. Treasury is told to look for a way, including a new law, to forgive what was deferred. The White House fact sheet says the break saves truckers over $100 a refill.
For Americans
The tax is postponed, not wiped out. A trucker or a farmer in the group Treasury names keeps the cash until the bill comes due, unless Congress later erases it.
