Day 616
1 documented win
China trade lists, tariffs not cut yet
The win
The U.S.–China Board of Trade posted recommended lists: each side named about $30 billion of non-sensitive goods for possible lower tariffs, still subject to each country’s own laws. U.S. goods on the list include agriculture, seafood, wood, and medical devices; Chinese goods include small appliances, toys, and similar consumer products. The September 25 state-visit readout also said China committed to buy at least 10 million metric tons of U.S. coal in 2027 and again in 2028. The tariff lists are recommendations. They are not a cut that has taken effect.
For Americans
A soybean farmer and a toy importer should not price a discount that is not in the tariff schedule yet. The receipt is the list, not a lower bill at the port.
