Musk’s DOGE sendoff: $175 billion posted
The win
Elon Musk stood with Trump in the Oval and stepped back from the public face of DOGE. The site then claimed about $175 billion saved — contracts, leases, improper payments, workforce — $1,087 a taxpayer. USAID had taken the hardest cut: 83% of programs and 5,200 contracts cancelled after a six-week review.

Critics will litigate the arithmetic for years. What a family feels is a government that, for once, was trying to stop the bleed instead of hiding it. Foreign-aid dollars that never reach a clinic are a fraud against both the taxpayer and the person who was supposed to eat.
