India–Pakistan ceasefire
The win
After the worst India–Pakistan fighting in decades — airstrikes, drones, and nuclear saber-rattling — Trump announced a full and immediate ceasefire. Pakistan credited him and later nominated him for a Nobel; India said the pause was bilateral. The shooting stopped.
For Americans
Two nuclear powers stepping back from a Kashmir war is the closest thing to a civilization-level save on this ledger. Americans feel it as a world that does not go to DEFCON over a border ambush.
For people abroad
